Marcie Smith, Executive Director of The Children’s Haven, was recently recognized for her exemplary service to The Children’s Haven and to our community. In June, the Rotary Club of Canton recognized Marcie with The Coxe Award 2022 “Rotarian of the Year,” honoring her for exemplifying Rotary’s mission of Service Above Self. In addition, the Rotary Club of Canton began a new tradition and presented Marcie with the Paul Harris Fellow honor. Given to the Rotarian of the Year, this honor is in recognition of the recipient’s charitable giving. Buster Cushing, Board Chair for The Children’s Haven, stated, “Marcie has a servant heart and is focused on meeting the needs of children in Cherokee County.” Ms. Smith was also awarded the 2022 Top 10 in 10 Young Professionals to Watch by the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce. Marcie shared, “I feel overwhelmed by these honors, but grateful for the kindness shown to The Children’s Haven and to me by our community in Cherokee County. I am fortunate to have the best job where I get to work with so many people who truly care about making a better future for our county’s children.” The Children’s Haven is honored to have Ms. Smith leading the mission to promote the health and happiness of children impacted by abuse or neglect.
