CANTON, Ga. – The Children’s Haven received consistent grant funding throughout 2022 from the generous support of the Cobb EMC Community Foundation.
“We are so grateful for the generous support from the Cobb EMC Foundation this year. These grant funds have truly allowed us to serve more children this year. We’ve been able to meet needs because the Foundation has invested in the work we do. We are thankful for the Cobb EMC members who round up their bills each month—it absolutely makes a difference! We’re also very thankful for the Cobb EMC Foundation Board of Directors who thoughtfully consider each investment they make into our organization and other organizations across our community,” stated Marcie Smith, Executive Director.
The Children’s Haven, located in Canton, Georgia, is home to four support and prevention programs, educating, empowering and strengthening children and families. The Children’s Haven has served 462 children and 121 parents in 2022 through the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Cherokee County, Wellstar Family Visitation, Prevent Child Abuse (PCA) Cherokee and the Chin Up mentorship program. Because of this generous support, The Children’s Haven has been able to meet the growing need of the community for support and prevention services for families. With the support from Cobb EMC Community Foundation, The Children’s Haven has been able to train and empower an increased number of community volunteers to advocate for children in foster care through the CASA program, provide safe, supervised visitation services and parent coaching, offer bilingual, in-home parent education and life skills and build an on-site mentorship program for at-risk youth.
The mission of the Cobb EMC Community Foundation is to carefully assess the financial requests of the charitable organizations, and to apply their collective wisdom to the allocation of available funds for the broadest benefit of the community and the members they serve. Funds for the foundation come from generous Cobb EMC members who opt to round their bills up each month through Operation Round Up. The funds have been used to support local nonprofits with outreach programs that benefit members within Cobb EMC’s five county service area.
